FAQs

What is the age range of students eligible for Friend of the Studio experiences?

Friend of the Studio connects high school students and recent high school graduates (within 2 years of graduation) with agency experiences. While that might change in the future, we’re keeping it focused for now.

What types of agencies are eligible to become Friends of the Studio?

Friend of the Studio invites agencies offering creative services to join our community, whether those services manifest as design, strategy, code, language, sound, experience, or beyond. For now, our platform is oriented toward smaller independent agencies interested in offering meaningful experiences that will inspire students and reveal creative career pathways.

Who manages Friend of the Studio?

Friend of the Studio was founded, designed, and developed by Athletics, a Brooklyn-based creative studio, with the input and inspiration of a network of agencies and organizations in our community. On the agency side, special thanks to Doberman, Upstatement, and Barrel. And on the organization side, special thanks to 826NYC, Youth Design Center, and The Marcy Lab School.

Why does Friend of the Studio exist?

Athletics often welcomes students to our studio for field trips, workshops, mentorships, internships, and more. These experiences introduce us to fresh ideas from young talent, and introduce young talent to new skills and ways to turn their creative passions into dynamic careers in our vibrant industry. Simply put, it’s a great deal for both parties. Seeking to help more agencies connect with more organizations to inspire more students, we designed Friend of the Studio to link local organizations actively cultivating emerging creative talent, with talented creative agencies making some of the best work in our industry today. Our dream is to cultivate a new generation of creative professionals from all backgrounds, ultimately contributing to a more diverse creative industry.

Friend of the Studio is a digital meeting point that connects young talent with creative agencies. Our aim is to open clearer pathways to meaningful experiences in the creative field.
